¿What is a UPS and Why Do I Need?

A UPS is an uninterruptible power, which has as its main goal to provide a clean, continuous power to critical equipment in order to ensure the continuity of its functions despite normal disturbances and power outages commercial.

¿What is a UPS Online or Double Conversion?

An online UPS is one in which the batteries provide backup when power fails commercial transfer with a time of 0 ms. This is achieved by continuous investment and rectification equipment, features that give it its name double conversion.

¿I need redundancy in my Datacenter?

The redundancy level goes hand in hand with the criticality of the equipment that is required to protect.

Here come two very important words:

Availability: indicates how long must principally operate a data center without flaws. Usually measured in number of nines (9s). For example, a data center may have an availability of 99.99% (four 9s). This means that the data center in a year is running 99.99% of the time without failure.

Reliability: this is how much I can trust that my system will not fail. This relates to the MTBF (mean time between failures) and MTTR (repair time of equipment)

If the operations of the data center require high availability and reliability, redundancy must be placed in it. Redundancy can be seen in several ways, but mainly looking that no single points of failure, which has maintainability, among others.

¿What is the difference vs. precision air one of comfort?

The air-conditioned comfort is made for people. People by nature hot and sweaty (for skin and breathing). Meanwhile, a data center has active teams that get hot, but like any machine, no sweat. This difference is critical because it points out that individuals and teams have different cooling needs.

Air conditioners divided its total cooling capacity in removal of sensible heat (temperature) and latent heat (moist heat). An air of comfort has a ratio of sensible and latent heat about 60/40, while a precision around 90:10 respectively.

This indicates that the precision air is optimized for active devices. In addition, teams have options like precision monitoring, intelligence, redundancy, liquid detection, capacitance change, among others. A very important feature is that they are designed and built to work 24/7/365, while an air of comfort is designed to work 8 hours per day on average.

¿What is the water that does not wet?

¿What is the minimum category of cabling for my data center?

The TIA 942 standard indicates that at least the category to be installed in a data center under category 6A.

The reason for this requirement is the growing trend of active equipment to work at 10 Gbps. Category 6A has a bandwidth of 500 MHz, which allows applications to 10 Gbps.

Categories such as 6 and 5e, have a bandwidth of 250 MHz and 100 MHz respectively, which is not enough to work 10Gbps applications.

¿What is the F / UTP cable?

F / UTP mean Foil / Unshielded Twisted Pair. It is a type of building structured cabling copper commonly found more frequently in the category 6A. It works like a Faraday cage, electromagnetically isolating the copper pair cables and neighbors noisy environments.

In category 6A is a thinner solution that optimizes bandwidth when compared to Cat 6A UTP. It also reduces heat attenuation using PoE applications.
